About
Riverside Youth Soccer Club is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 2002. We are a travel soccer club for boys and girls from the Riverside Local School District in Lake County, Ohio as well as from surrounding communities. Our purpose is to further develop players by reinforcing more advanced coaching and a competitive level of play. Players from ages 5-8 may start with our Little Soccer Kickers program which is a non-competitive introductory and skills development program. Competitive players join teams at the U9-U15 age group. Our goal is to prepare and develop players, providing a feeder program for the Riverside High School Boys and Girls Soccer teams.
Club History
The Riverside Youth Soccer Club was originally founded as the Concord Futbul Club by Glen Niemi and Chuck Biese in the spring of 2002. The goal was to bring a soccer program to the community giving the kids an opportunity to play soccer within and for their community. Initially there was one 11U boys team. The club was truly a community effort to get off the ground. It took the generosity of local business providing the funding to get the club started. George's Dinner Bell provided goals and the Baptist Church provided the fields to play on. In the second year with the help of Sandi Ponti and Joe Imondi the club added its first girls team.Over the years, the club has continued to evolve and grow. The name changed to Concord Soccer Club and then to better align with the the local school district it changed again to its current name, Riverside Youth Soccer Club. We have used fields throughout the area, the Baptist Church, Concord Community Fields and are currently using the fields at Riverview Elementary and Riverside High School for all of our teams and activities. With additional leadership from Armin Kiss, Dave Buckholtz, and the efforts of many other volunteers over the past 21 years, our club has continued to grow into what it is today. Currently we support players as young as 5 years old with a Little Kickers Program and have travel teams for both boys and girls from U9 to U15.
